Wrapping Up Season 1 & What to Expect in Season 2!

It feels like yesterday, but officially, work started on TriomeLab around the beginning of February.
At the start, I thought the site would "only" be what you see on /analysis, but it quickly grew in features and one of them, Leaderboards, will close it's first season 10 days from now.
Watching the global Tiny Leaders: Reborn community pour deck data into the lab, and collecting the tournament reports over the last few months has been incredible.
From the start, I wanted to do Seasons, as the meta evolves and Wizards of the Coast continues to release sets at a break-neck pace, I felt it was only fair to take snapshots at different moments in time and see who's been the best of the season.
As Season 2 begins, one piece of feedback has become very clear: a purely cumulative leaderboard measures attendance just as much as it measures skill. As we gear up for Season 2 kicking off on July 1st, it’s time to level up how we determine the best players in the format.
Here is a sneak peek at the Season 2 Leaderboard changes:
While I am still fine-tuning the exact math under the hood, the upcoming season will shift away from an endless point grind and introduce a system that automatically rewards your Top 4 Tournaments of the season.
The goal of this new system is to create a balanced and fair playing field, no matter what your local scene looks like. To do this, the system will grant weighted points based on two factors:
Your Final Placement: How well you did in the tournament.
The Tournament Size: The difficulty of the field you had to navigate.
What does this mean for you?
The Local Players: If you regularly attend, 4-8 player weekly tournaments, your consistency is your weapon. Your highest four finishes will be your high score.
The Monthly Players: If your LGS runs larger 8-16 player monthly events, taking home the gold will yield extra points to account for the harder matchups.
The Online Players: If you participate in the much larger, month-long 30-50 player online tournaments, the sheer size of the tournament acts as a high-risk, high-reward multiplier that can instantly upgrade your season's high score.
Whether you are battling in a large online tournament or consistently battling your local weekly friends, there is now a fair path to the top of the global rankings.
The Season 2 rollover will happen automatically on July 1st!
Finish strong, get those last few matches logged, and I’ll see you all on the Season 2 leaderboards!
